Entangled with the Mafia Don

The anonymous call was just the beginning of Davina Wilson's nightmare. Summoned to her estranged father's bedside, she finds no illness, but the brutal aftermath of violence. Malcolm's chilling rejection and her stepmother's icy glare, hint at a darkness Davina never knew.

Then comes Ezra, a menacing stranger with unsettling knowledge of Davina's past – a past supposedly erased thirteen years ago. Thrust into a dangerous underworld to protect a family shrouded in secrets, Davina walks a tightrope between survival and complicity. Ezra is captivated by her innocence, seeing a hidden strength he aims to unleash, even as his possessive interest grows. For Davina, Ezra represents both a threat and a strange kind of twisted protection.

Their connection is a dangerous game, a magnetic pull forged in the heart of violence and deceit. As Davina navigates this treacherous landscape, the lines between captor and something far more complicated begin to blur, igniting a dangerous attraction that could either be her salvation or her ultimate downfall.

Davina's reappearance ignites a chain of perilous events, forcing her to confront not only external threats but the buried truths of her own family.

He comes from a family of doctors in Massachusetts, destined to be a doctor, aware of her wanting to remain a virgin. They only have oral sex for a year. One day, he sticks it into her. She reports it as rape. Is this rape?

In the story, a woman and a man are having oral sex for over a year. She is a church going Christian woman who has been brought up to remain a virgin thru her wedding night. She is saving her virginity for her husband on her wedding night. Her virginity is sacrosanct.

He is studying medicine to be doctor. His father and grandfather are doctors. He knows he will be a doctor someday.

But one night, in the heat of passion, he gets on the top of her and sticks it into her. She loses her virginity. He initially wants to marry her, but later he changes his mind. She reports the incident as rape. He is charged with rape. He says in his defense when he stuck it into her, he was certain he wants to marry her. But in the weeks and months that passed, he realized marrying her is not a good idea. He changed his mind. He argues he wouldn't be charged with rape if he went thru with the marriage. But now that he has decided not to marry her, he is facing rape charges.

She, of the other hand, makes the argument that he knew he wasn't going to marry her. He was just trying to screw her. This was just a game to him. He never intended to marry her.
They each have a valid argument worth considering. The story needs to advance both points of view. The story is balanced and the reader can’t decide who is right and who is wrong.

But the jury finds him not guilty and he walks a free man. He then asks her to marry him.

The Escape (John Puller #3) by David Baldacci

It's a prison unlike any other. Military discipline rules. Its security systems are unmatched. None of its prisoners dream of escaping. They know it's impossible.

Until now.

John Puller's older brother, Robert, was convicted of treason and national security crimes. His inexplicable escape from prison makes him the most wanted criminal in the country. Some in the government believe that John Puller represents their best chance at capturing Robert alive, and so Puller takes on the burden of bringing his brother in to face justice.

But Puller quickly discovers that there are others pursuing his brother, who only see Robert as a traitor and are unconcerned if he survives. Puller is in turn pushed into an uneasy, fraught partnership with another agent, who may have an agenda of her own.

They dig more deeply into the case together, and Puller finds that not only are her allegiances unclear, but that there are troubling details about his brother's conviction....and that someone is out there who doesn't want the truth to ever come to light. As the nation-wide manhunt for Robert grows more urgent, Puller's masterful skills as an investigator and strength as a fighter may not be enough to save his brother-or himself.

Memory Man (Amos Decker #1) by David Baldacci

Amos Decker's life changed forever--twice.
The first time was on the gridiron. A big, towering athlete, he was the only person from his hometown of Burlington ever to go pro. But his career ended before it had a chance to begin. On his very first play, a violent helmet-to-helmet collision knocked him off the field for good, and left him with an improbable side effect--he can never forget anything.

The second time was at home nearly two decades later. Now a police detective, Decker returned from a stakeout one evening and entered a nightmare--his wife, young daughter, and brother-in-law had been murdered.

His family destroyed, their killer's identity as mysterious as the motive behind the crime, and unable to forget a single detail from that horrible night, Decker finds his world collapsing around him. He leaves the police force, loses his home, and winds up on the street, taking piecemeal jobs as a private investigator when he can.

But over a year later, a man turns himself in to the police and confesses to the murders. At the same time a horrific event nearly brings Burlington to its knees, and Decker is called back in to help with this investigation. Decker also seizes his chance to learn what really happened to his family that night. To uncover the stunning truth, he must use his remarkable gifts and confront the burdens that go along with them. He must endure the memories he would much rather forget. And he may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Memory Man will stay with you long after the turn of the final page.
